Cuisine American
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup pecans chopped
- Sea salt optional, for sprinkling on top
Start by placing the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds until it is fully melted. Keep an eye on it to prevent any splattering.
In the same bowl, add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir the mixture well to combine the dry ingredients evenly.
Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until you have a smooth and creamy batter. Don’t worry if it seems thick; that’s perfectly normal!
Gently fold the chopped pecans into the fudge mixture, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout.
Place the bowl back into the microwave and heat for another 1-2 minutes. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t bubble over. You want it hot but not boiling.
Once heated, carefully pour the fudge mixture into a greased 9x9 inch baking dish or a dish lined with parchment paper. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes. If you want it to set faster, you can place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- Refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze up to three months for longer storage.
- Omit pecans for a nut-free version or add different mix-ins like chocolate chips or dried fruit.
- Adjust microwave time if fudge is too soft by heating in 30-second intervals and stirring.
- Customize flavors seasonally with extracts or toppings like mint, pumpkin spice, or crushed candy canes.
