Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking parchment
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda until well combined.
  • Pour the buttermilk into the flour mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. With floured hands, shape the dough into a round loaf that will fit comfortably in your air fryer basket.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Line the air fryer basket with baking parchment if desired. Place the shaped loaf inside the basket. Close the air fryer and cook for about 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the bread from the air fryer and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough to avoid a tough loaf.
  • Preheat the air fryer to ensure even cooking and proper rise.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent gummy texture.
  • Try adding herbs, cheese, or sweeteners for variations.
  • Store bread at room temperature up to 3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
