Air Fryer Tater Tots Made Stepwise

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it preheat for about 3-5 minutes for even cooking and a crispy crust.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and help the tots crisp up.
  • Place the frozen tater tots in a single layer in the basket, avoiding overcrowding to allow hot air circulation.
  • Cook the tots at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket or using tongs to toss them halfway through to brown evenly.
  • Sprinkle seasoning salt on the hot tots right after cooking if using, toss to coat, and serve immediately with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure the tots crisp evenly.
  • For extra crispy tots, increase cooking time by a couple of minutes but watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Experiment with different seasoning blends like Cajun, ranch, or taco seasoning to vary flavors.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, bake tots in a conventional oven at 425°F for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes to restore crispiness.
