Knife and cutting board
- 1.5 lb halibut filet
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1 lemon zested then cut into wedges
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 0.5 tsp pepper
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even cooking and a golden crust.
In a mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined and aromatic.
Place the halibut filet in a greased baking dish, skin-side down. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the fish.
Sprinkle the lemon zest over the top of the halibut to add freshness and brightness.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the halibut flakes easily with a fork.
Remove from the oven, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fish, and serve with lemon wedges. Pair with steamed vegetables or a light salad.
- You can prepare the garlic butter up to a week in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
- Leftover cooked halibut can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through to maintain flavor and texture.
