  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb halibut filet
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 lemon zested then cut into wedges
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even cooking and a golden crust.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined and aromatic.
  • Place the halibut filet in a greased baking dish, skin-side down. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the fish.
  • Sprinkle the lemon zest over the top of the halibut to add freshness and brightness.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the halibut flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove from the oven, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fish, and serve with lemon wedges. Pair with steamed vegetables or a light salad.

Notes

  • You can prepare the garlic butter up to a week in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
  • Leftover cooked halibut can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through to maintain flavor and texture.
