- 1 pound sockeye salmon wild-caught
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger root grated
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
- sesame seeds optional, for garnish
- green onions sliced, for garnish
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is ideal for baking salmon, ensuring it cooks evenly and remains moist.
In a mixing bowl, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, and chili garlic sauce. Whisk until well blended.
Place the sockeye salmon on a lined baking sheet. Pour the marinade over the salmon, making sure it is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the fish.
Once marinated, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Remove the salmon from the oven. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
- Check for pin bones before cooking to ensure a better eating experience.
- Don’t skip marinating; even a short marination time adds depth of flavor.
- Watch the salmon closely while baking to avoid overcooking and dryness.
