Ingredients
  

  • 3 onions (yellow, white, or Walla Walla, sliced into 1-inch thick half moons)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red pepper (marinated from the jar, diced; optional)
  • 1 tsp cilantro (freshly chopped; optional)

Instructions
 

  • Start by peeling your onions and slicing them into 1-inch thick half moons. This thickness allows for balanced cooking and ensures they don’t fall apart during the air frying process.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced onions with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Toss everything together until the onions are evenly coated. If you’re using the optional red pepper or cilantro, add them in at this stage for added flavor.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). This step is crucial for achieving that perfect crispness on your onions.
  • Place the seasoned onions in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You can cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them in the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  • Once the onions are beautifully golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately. They make an excellent side dish or a fantastic addition to your favorite meals.
