Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer or Wooden Spoon
  • Baking Dish
  • Serving utensils
  • Skillet

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese sharp
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 pound boudin pork, chicken, or vegetarian version, casing removed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
  • Remove the casing from the boudin. In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and sauté the boudin for about 5 minutes until heated through.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and sour cream. Blend until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer or wooden spoon.
  • Fold the sautéed boudin into the cream cheese mixture, ensuring even distribution throughout the dip.
  • Spoon the mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly for even cooking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is bubbly and slightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with crackers, veggies, or toasted bread.

Notes

  • Softening the cream cheese before mixing helps achieve a smooth texture without lumps.
  • You can substitute boudin with other sausages like andouille or chicken sausage for different flavors.
  • Make the dip ahead by preparing it up to the baking step and refrigerating; bake when ready to serve.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
  • For a vegetarian option, use vegetarian boudin or add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers instead of sausage.
