Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Loaf Pan

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter Browned
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups mashed ripe bananas About 3 large bananas
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • cup full-fat sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Step 1: Brown the Butter - In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients - In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  • Step 3: Mash the Bananas - In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Step 4: Combine Wet Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the mashed bananas, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until incorporated.
  • Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Step 6: Bake the Bread - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Step 7: Cool and Enjoy - Once baked, let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best flavor. Don’t skip browning the butter for a rich taste. Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
