Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken wings split and tips removed
  • 1 tablespoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup hot pepper sauce
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature is key to achieving that crispy texture.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken wings, baking powder, sea salt, and garlic powder. Toss until the wings are evenly coated.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer, making sure they aren’t touching.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  • While the wings are baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the hot pepper sauce and granulated sugar until well combined.
  • Once the wings are done baking, remove them from the oven and immediately toss them in the sauce mixture until they are fully coated.
  • Transfer the sauced wings to a serving plate and enjoy them hot! You can serve these with your favorite dipping sauces and sides.

Notes

  • Use aluminum-free baking powder to ensure crispiness without any off flavors.
  • Adjust the heat by varying the amount or type of hot pepper sauce used.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
