Instructions

Canned Green Beans Recipe

  • Begin by draining the canned green beans in a colander to remove any excess liquid. Rinse them under cold water for a fresher taste. Thinly slice the garlic cloves and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, add the butter and olive oil. Heat over medium heat until the butter is melted and begins to bubble, creating a delightful base for your green beans.
  • Once the butter and oil are hot, add the sliced garlic to the pan. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until the garlic becomes fragrant and golden, taking care not to burn it.
  • Now it’s time to add the drained green beans to the skillet. Stir them gently to coat with the garlic butter mixture. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the beans to heat through and absorb the flavors.
  • Once the green beans are heated, sprinkle the shredded Parmesan cheese over the top. Stir to combine, and then season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it cook for another minute to allow the cheese to melt and blend beautifully with the beans.
  • Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. These delicious green beans are ready to be enjoyed! Serve them warm as a side dish with your favorite main course.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium canned green beans if you want to control salt intake.
  • Substitute fresh garlic with garlic powder in a pinch.
  • To make it vegan, replace butter with plant-based alternative and omit Parmesan or use vegan cheese.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of water to keep beans moist; freezing is not recommended.
