Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Grill or Skillet
  • Resealable Bag or Shallow Dish

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2-3 pieces Chipotles in adobo From a can, freeze the rest for future recipes.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1.5-2 pounds Flank steak Or any other cut.

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Marinade - In a large bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped chipotles, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, ground black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  • Step 2: Marinate the Steak - Place flank steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  • Step 3: Cook the Steak - Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the fridge and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Cook the steak for 4-6 minutes on each side, depending on desired doneness.
  • Step 4: Let It Rest - After cooking, remove the steak from heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  • Step 5: Slice and Serve - Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve with warm tortillas, on a salad, or over rice.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate overnight if possible. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Letting the steak rest is key for juicy meat. Pair with your favorite toppings like guacamole, salsa, or fresh cilantro.
