Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease your loaf pan with butter or cooking spray; optionally line with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; then stir in vanilla extract.
Slowly mix in the buttermilk until combined with wet ingredients.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined; a few lumps are fine.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 55-65 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove loaf from oven and cool in pan for 10 minutes; transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
