Glass or Mason Jar
- 1 cup plain unsweetened almond milk
- 4 cups loosely packed spinach about 2 large handfuls
- 1 medium avocado peeled and pitted
- 2 medium apples any variety, peel on, cored and quartered; cut into rough dice if not using a high-powered blender
- 1 medium banana cut into chunks and frozen
- 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup plus additional to taste
- 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger or a ¼-inch knob of fresh ginger, minced if not using a high-powered blender
- small handful ice cubes
- optional additions chia seeds, flaxseed, protein powder, almond butter, or other nut butter of choice
Gather all your ingredients. Peel and pit the avocado, core and quarter the apples, slice the banana into chunks, and mince fresh ginger if using.
In your blender, combine the almond milk, spinach, avocado, apples, frozen banana, honey or maple syrup, and ginger. Add any optional ingredients like chia seeds or protein powder if desired.
Secure the lid and blend on high until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed.
Taste and adjust sweetness with more honey or syrup if desired. If too thick, add more almond milk. Add ice cubes and blend again briefly. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
- Use coconut or oat milk instead of almond milk for a creamier smoothie.
- Substitute spinach with kale or Swiss chard for a different green profile.
- Add protein powder or nut butters to boost protein and richness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake before drinking.
- Freeze banana chunks in advance for a colder, creamier texture.
