Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Rolling Pin

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 1/2 cup sugar granulated
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon ground
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine melted
  • 2 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 ounces butter room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Remove store-bought pizza dough from packaging and let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, keeping it even for uniform baking.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Brush the melted butter or margarine evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough, covering every inch.
  • Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the dough into 1-inch wide strips of desired length.
  • Place the cinnamon sticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  • While baking, prepare the vanilla cream cheese frosting by combining softened cream cheese, room temperature butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  • Once the cinnamon sticks are slightly cooled, generously spread the vanilla cream cheese frosting over them.
  • Cut the frosted sticks apart if needed and serve warm. Enjoy your copycat cinnamon sticks fresh out of the oven.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut oil instead of butter.
  • Substitute brown sugar for granulated sugar for a richer flavor.
  • Try almond extract in the frosting for a unique twist.
  • Store leftover cinnamon sticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Reheat cinnamon sticks in the microwave for a few seconds or in a warm oven before serving.
