Equipment

  • Meat Mallet or Rolling Pin
  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Toaster or Oven

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast pounded to quarter inch thickness
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan finely grated
  • 4 slices American Cheese
  • 4 kaiser rolls split and toasted

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to a quarter-inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
  • Season both sides of the chicken with salt, cracked black pepper, and finely grated parmesan.
  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add a splash of oil to prevent sticking.
  • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken, place a slice of American cheese on each piece, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and chicken is cooked through.
  • While the chicken cooks, split the kaiser rolls and toast them cut-side down in a toaster or skillet until golden brown.
  • Assemble the sandwich by placing the cheesy chicken on the bottom half of each toasted roll and topping with the other half. Add optional condiments or toppings as desired.

Notes

  • Pound the chicken evenly to ensure quick and uniform cooking.
  • Cover the skillet briefly after adding cheese to help it melt perfectly.
  • Toast the rolls well to add a satisfying crunch.
  • Experiment with different cheeses or toppings for variety.
  • Store leftover chicken separately and reheat gently to maintain juiciness.
