Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Pastry Brush
  • Sharp knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt Lawry's brand recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces crescent rolls 8 count
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese divided
  • 1 to 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella & provolone cheese blend Sargento brand recommended, divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This will ensure that your garlic knots bake evenly and achieve that golden-brown perfection.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well combined. This mixture will give your knots their delicious flavor.
  • Open the package of crescent rolls and carefully unroll the dough onto a clean surface. Separate the dough into 8 triangles along the perforations.
  • Sprinkle a tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese and a handful of the shredded mozzarella & provolone cheese blend over each triangle of dough. Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese based on your preference!
  • Starting at the wider end of each triangle, roll the dough tightly towards the point. After rolling, twist the ends together to form a knot shape. Place each knot on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Using a pastry brush, generously coat each knot with the garlic butter mixture you prepared earlier. Don’t be shy—this is where the flavor really comes from!
  • Sprinkle the remaining grated Parmesan and shredded cheese over the knots. This will create a wonderfully cheesy crust as they bake.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the knots are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Once baked, remove the knots from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful garlic aroma filling your kitchen!

Notes

  • You can substitute the cheese blend with cheddar or dairy-free alternatives to suit dietary needs.
  • Replace unsalted butter with olive oil or plant-based butter for a healthier or vegan option.
  • Use fresh minced garlic instead of garlic salt for a more intense garlic flavor.
  • Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container up to 2 days; reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
  • Freeze formed knots individually before baking for up to 2 months for easy future use.
