Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Brush
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 package crescent roll dough 8 ounces
  • 1 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Prepare the Sausage Filling

  • Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-9 minutes. Once done, drain any excess fat if necessary, then remove the sausage from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix the Cream Cheese Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until everything is fully incorporated and smooth. Add the cooled sausage into the cream cheese mixture and gently fold until evenly combined.

Prepare the Crescent Roll Dough

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Carefully separate the dough into its pre-scored triangles, but keep the triangles attached if you want to create a large roll, or separate them for individual bites.

Add the Filling

  • Spoon a generous amount of the sausage and cream cheese filling onto the widest part of each crescent triangle. Be careful not to overfill to avoid leakage during baking.

Roll and Seal

  • Starting at the wide end, roll each triangle tightly towards the pointed end, encasing the filling inside. Pinch the edges to seal well. Place each rolled crescent on the baking sheet with the seam side down.

Apply Egg Wash

  • Brush the tops of each crescent roll with the beaten egg. This egg wash will give the rolls a beautiful golden color and a shiny finish once baked.

Bake

  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-browning.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. These Crescent Sausage Cream Cheese rolls are best enjoyed warm, allowing the creamy filling to shine through with every bite.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the crescents to prevent leakage during baking.
  • Ensure edges are pinched firmly to keep the filling inside and maintain shape.
  • Always soften cream cheese before mixing for a smooth filling.
  • Use egg wash for a golden, shiny crust.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat in the oven for best texture.
