Ingredients
  

Meat Sauce

  • 0.5 pound Ground beef (lean)
  • 0.5 pound Ground beef Italian sausage Can substitute with all beef if preferred.
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper

Sauce

  • 29 ounce Tomato sauce
  • 6 ounce Tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water

Cheese Mixture

  • 12 ounces Ricotta cheese (1 ½ cups in total)
  • 0.75 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 12 ounces Shredded mozzarella cheese (3 cups in total)
  • 1 large Egg, beaten

Lasagna

  • 12 pieces Uncooked lasagna noodles (oven-ready, no-boil type)

Garnish

  • Fresh basil For serving

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Cook the ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Break it up with a spatula as it cooks. When it’s almost browned, add the diced onion and minced garlic, stirring until the onion is softened (about 5-7 minutes). Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 2: Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, granulated sugar, and water to your meat mixture. Stir everything together to combine and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 3: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, beaten egg, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth.
  • Step 4: Layer your lasagna in the Crockpot starting with a spoonful of the meat sauce, followed by a layer of lasagna noodles, some of the ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top.
  • Step 5: Cover the Crockpot and set it to cook on low for about 4 to 6 hours.
  • Step 6: Once done, let the lasagna rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Check the size of your Crockpot; this recipe works best in a 6-quart slow cooker. You can add vegetables like spinach or zucchini for a healthier twist.
