Cook Date Butter Spread Like This
Begin by ensuring your dates are pitted and chopped into smaller pieces. If they seem dry, soak them in warm water for about 10 minutes to soften.
In your high-powered blender or food processor, combine the pitted dates and water. Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula as needed.
If the spread is too thick, add more water one tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.
Taste the spread and customize by adding a pinch of salt, cinnamon, or vanilla extract if desired. Blend again to combine.
Transfer the Date Butter Spread to a storage container. Seal tightly and refrigerate. It lasts 2-3 weeks. Stir in water or warm slightly before use if needed.
- For a chunkier texture, blend less and leave some date pieces intact.
- Try this spread on pancakes, waffles, or as a pastry filling for variety.
- Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks.
