Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package directions.
  • While the pasta cooks, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 medium onion, chopped, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add 1 pound ground turkey to the skillet. Break it up with a spatula and cook until no longer pink, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in 1 (28 fluid ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices, 1 (7.2 fluid ounce) can tomato sauce, 2 dashes Italian seasoning, 4 cloves garlic (minced), and 1/4 cup (packed) fresh basil (chopped). Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Once it starts to bubble, reduce the heat to medium and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Drain the pasta and divide among plates or bowls. Spoon the turkey bolognese over the pasta and serve with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
