Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 tube Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar plus a few pinches for sprinkling
  • Food coloring (red, blue, green, yellow, or any colors of your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your palmiers will bake evenly and become golden brown.
  • Unroll the Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently press the seams together to create a single sheet of dough.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar with your choice of food coloring. You can separate the sugar into different bowls for each color you wish to use. Mix until the sugar is evenly colored.
  • Sprinkle the colored sugar mixture evenly over the dough. If you’re using cinnamon, you can sprinkle that on as well for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Starting from one side, gently roll the dough tightly towards the center. Repeat with the other side, rolling until both rolls meet in the middle. This will create the signature palmier shape.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Sprinkle a few pinches of granulated sugar over the top of each palmier for added sweetness and a nice crunch.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the palmiers are golden brown and crisp.
  • Once baked, remove the palmiers from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy the delightful layers and flavors!

Notes

  • Store leftover palmiers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
  • Freeze unbaked palmiers on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a zip-top bag for later baking.
  • Customize the sugar mixture with extracts, spices, or cocoa powder for unique flavor variations.
