Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Colander
  • Large Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Chopping board and knife

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti 230g
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • salt to taste
  • 3 dashes ground black pepper
  • red chili flakes to taste
  • parsley leaves finely chopped, for garnishing

Instructions

  • Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions, about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
  • While the spaghetti cooks, heat the extra virgin olive oil and melted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining the spaghetti using a colander. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil mixture. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to help the sauce adhere.
  • Season with salt, ground black pepper, and red chili flakes to taste. Toss everything together until the spaghetti is evenly coated.
  • Remove from heat. Transfer spaghetti to plates or serving bowl and garnish with finely chopped parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Store leftover spaghetti in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat with a splash of olive oil or water to prevent sticking.
