  • Oven or broiler
  • Cutting board and knife

Ingredients

For the Beef Mixture:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or avocado oil for cooking the ground beef
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 cup water

For the Pizza Assembly:

  • store-bought flatbreads use your favorite type
  • 1 cup refried beans homemade or canned
  • 0.25 cup salsa or taco sauce
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend or cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 avocado chopped
  • 0.25 cup crumbled cotija cheese
  • pickled red onions for garnish
  • chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Directions: Easy Taco Pizza

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or avocado oil over medium heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the beef is cooked, drain excess fat if necessary. Sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Stir to combine and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in 1/2 cup of water and bring to a simmer. Let the mixture cook for about 5 minutes until the water is mostly evaporated and the beef is nicely coated with the spices. Remove from heat.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the flatbreads on a baking sheet. Spread refried beans evenly over each flatbread, followed by a layer of the seasoned beef mixture.
  • Drizzle the salsa or taco sauce over the beef and top with shredded cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once out of the oven, let the pizza cool slightly. Top with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped avocado, and crumbled cotija cheese. Finish with pickled red onions and chopped cilantro.
  • Slice the Easy Taco Pizza into wedges and serve immediately. Enjoy the delightful blend of taco flavors in every bite!

Notes

  • For a leaner option, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • Make it vegetarian by skipping the meat and using black beans, corn, and sautéed veggies.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best crispiness.
