Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Whisk
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 18 ounces oyster crackers
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1 ounce Ranch seasoning mix (try our homemade ranch seasoning recipe!)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). This low temperature allows the crackers to gradually absorb the flavors without burning.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the canola oil, Ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  • Add the 18 ounces of oyster crackers to the seasoned oil mixture. Gently stir until all the crackers are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the coated oyster crackers in an even layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. This will help ensure even cooking and flavor distribution.
  • Once the crackers are golden and crispy, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely. Store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try substituting canola oil with olive or sunflower oil.
  • Store crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks to maintain freshness.
  • If crackers lose their crunch, reheat in the oven at 250°F for about 10 minutes to restore crispiness.
