Oven
- 18 ounces oyster crackers
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 ounce Ranch seasoning mix (try our homemade ranch seasoning recipe!)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). This low temperature allows the crackers to gradually absorb the flavors without burning.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the canola oil, Ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
Add the 18 ounces of oyster crackers to the seasoned oil mixture. Gently stir until all the crackers are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the coated oyster crackers in an even layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. This will help ensure even cooking and flavor distribution.
Once the crackers are golden and crispy, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely. Store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
- For a different flavor, try substituting canola oil with olive or sunflower oil.
- Store crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks to maintain freshness.
- If crackers lose their crunch, reheat in the oven at 250°F for about 10 minutes to restore crispiness.
