Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Slotted Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 log (10 ounce) goat cheese
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions or chives for serving
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup Frank's Red Hot Sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions

  • Start by cutting the goat cheese log into equal-sized pieces, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • In one bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and a pinch of black pepper. In another bowl, place the beaten egg. In a third bowl, add the Panko breadcrumbs.
  • Take each piece of goat cheese and roll it in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated. Next, dip it into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally, roll it in the Panko breadcrumbs until fully covered. Repeat for all pieces.
  • Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately if hot enough.
  • Carefully add the breaded cheese balls to the hot oil in small batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, extra virgin olive oil, Frank's Red Hot Sauce, seasoned salt, and a pinch of black pepper until well combined.
  • Place all fried cheese balls in a large bowl and drizzle the buffalo sauce over them. Toss gently to coat evenly.
  • Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with chopped green onions or chives. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • If cheese balls fall apart during frying, chill them for 30 minutes before frying to firm up.
  • Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy cheese balls.
  • For extra spice, add more hot sauce to the buffalo sauce mixture.
  • Cheese balls can be frozen after coating and fried from frozen; add extra frying time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in oven for crispiness.
