Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced almonds adds a delightful crunch and nutty flavor
  • 1 cup shredded coconut sweetened or unsweetened for added texture and flavor
  • 1 cup chopped pecans provides richness and a buttery taste
  • 4 cups rolled oats the base of your granola, offering fiber and heartiness
  • 1 teaspoon salt balances the sweetness and enhances the flavors
  • 1 cup maple syrup a natural sweetener that adds a warm, rich flavor
  • 1 cup olive oil keeps the granola crunchy and prevents it from becoming too dry
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds a lovely aromatic flavor to the mix

Instructions

Granola

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your granola will bake evenly and become perfectly crunchy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, sliced almonds, chopped pecans, shredded coconut, and salt. Stir well to ensure that the nuts and coconut are evenly distributed throughout the oats.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, olive oil, and vanilla extract. This mixture will help bind the dry ingredients together while adding flavor.
  • Pour the wet ingredients over the dry mixture. Use a spatula to thoroughly combine, ensuring that every oat and nut is coated with the syrupy goodness.
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Spread the granola mixture evenly across the sheet, pressing it down slightly to help it clump together as it bakes.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning; you want it to be golden brown and fragrant.
  • Once baked, remove the granola from the oven and allow it to cool completely on the baking sheet. As it cools, it will crisp up nicely. Once cooled, transfer the granola to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

  • Store granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
  • Try adding dried fruits like raisins or cranberries for extra sweetness.
  • Experiment with spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm flavor.
  • For a clumpier texture, press the mixture firmly on the baking sheet before baking.
  • Swap nuts to customize the recipe; walnuts or cashews work well.
