How To Freeze Bananas

  • Peel your ripe bananas, removing any brown spots or blemishes that might affect quality.
  • Slice the bananas into even pieces using a knife and cutting board. You can cut them into rounds, halves, or leave them whole depending on your preference.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the bananas from sticking.
  • Arrange the banana slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece for even freezing.
  • Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 2-3 hours until the bananas are frozen solid (flash freezing).
  • Transfer the frozen banana slices into airtight freezer bags or containers, removing as much air as possible before sealing.
  • Label the bags or containers with the date and contents, then store in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • Add a splash of lime or lemon juice to banana slices before freezing to help maintain color and brighten flavor.
  • Freeze bananas without added sugar for a healthier option.
  • Divide bananas into smaller portions in freezer bags for easier recipe use.
  • Avoid freezing overly ripe or mushy bananas to maintain texture.
  • To separate clumped bananas after freezing, gently tap the container or bag.
