Main Ingredients
- 8 corn tortillas (8-inch, fresh preferred)
- 1/4 inch corn oil or vegetable oil for frying
- salt for seasoning, optional
- paper towels for draining excess oil
Frying Process
Pour enough corn oil or vegetable oil into your skillet to cover the bottom about 1/4 inch deep. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test by dropping a small piece of tortilla into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.
Carefully place one tortilla in the hot oil. Fry for about 30 seconds on one side until golden brown.
Using tongs, flip the tortilla and fry for another 30 seconds on the other side.
Remove the tortilla with a slotted spoon and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt immediately, if desired.
Repeat the frying process with the remaining tortillas, maintaining the oil temperature.
Serve the fried tortillas warm with your favorite fillings or toppings and enjoy.
- Use fresh corn tortillas for the best texture and flavor.
- Maintain oil temperature to avoid greasy or burnt tortillas.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
