How to make the Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Gather all your ingredients. Lay out the two slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread 1 teaspoon of pesto on one slice and 1 teaspoon of roasted red pepper spread on the other slice.
Place the slice of provolone cheese directly on top of the pesto side.
Close the sandwich by bringing the two slices together, with the spreads and cheese facing each other.
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on the outside of the sandwich to create a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up for a couple of minutes.
Carefully place the sandwich in the skillet, mayo side down. Grill for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
Using a spatula, gently flip the sandwich over. Grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it cool for a minute before slicing it in half. Serve with your favorite soup or salad.
- Adjust the heat to medium to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
- Try different cheeses like cheddar or mozzarella for tasty variations.
- Store pesto and spreads in airtight containers in the fridge for up to a week.
