How to make the Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  • Gather all your ingredients. Lay out the two slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread 1 teaspoon of pesto on one slice and 1 teaspoon of roasted red pepper spread on the other slice.
  • Place the slice of provolone cheese directly on top of the pesto side.
  • Close the sandwich by bringing the two slices together, with the spreads and cheese facing each other.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on the outside of the sandwich to create a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
  • Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up for a couple of minutes.
  • Carefully place the sandwich in the skillet, mayo side down. Grill for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Using a spatula, gently flip the sandwich over. Grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it cool for a minute before slicing it in half. Serve with your favorite soup or salad.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat to medium to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
  • Try different cheeses like cheddar or mozzarella for tasty variations.
  • Store pesto and spreads in airtight containers in the fridge for up to a week.
