Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 large round loaf sourdough or Italian bread

Deli Meats

  • 1 pound mixed deli meats (ham, salami, turkey) chopped

Vegetables

  • ½ head iceberg lettuce finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato diced
  • ½ medium red onion finely chopped
  • ¼ cup pepperoncini peppers chopped

Cheese

  • 6 slices provolone cheese diced

Dressing

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice or Grape juice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients - Start by gathering all your ingredients. Chop the deli meats, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pepperoncini peppers. Dice your provolone cheese as well.
  • Step 2: Make the Dip Mixture - In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped deli meats, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini peppers, and provolone cheese. Give it a gentle toss to mix everything evenly.
  • Step 3: Add the Creamy Dressing - In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice (or Grape juice vinegar), olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Step 4: Combine Everything - Pour the dressing over the meat and veggie mixture in the large bowl. Gently fold it in until everything is well coated.
  • Step 5: Prepare the Bread Bowl - Take your round loaf of bread and cut off the top. Hollow out the inside using your hands or a knife, leaving enough bread around the edges to form a sturdy bowl.
  • Step 6: Fill the Bread Bowl - Spoon the Italian hoagie dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Make sure to pack it in nicely and level the top.
  • Step 7: Chill and Serve - For the best flavor, cover the dip and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Serve with chips, crackers, or the bread you removed from the loaf.

Notes

For a creamier dip, feel free to add more mayonnaise or even a bit of cream cheese. Letting the dip chill helps the flavors develop, so try to make it a bit ahead of time if you can.
