Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Microwave-safe Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Oven-safe dish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning 1-oz
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 package Velveeta cheese 16-oz, cubed
  • 1 can refried beans 28-oz

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked beef. Stir in the salsa and let the mixture simmer for about 3-5 minutes until heated through.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add the cubed Velveeta cheese. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the cheese is melted and smooth.
  • In the skillet with the beef mixture, add the can of refried beans. Stir well to combine. Then, pour in the melted Velveeta cheese and mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
  • You can either serve the dip immediately, transferring it to a serving bowl, or for a baked version, pour it into an oven-safe dish and bake at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes until bubbly.

Notes

  • Try adding a dollop of sour cream or cream cheese for an even creamier dip.
  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Make it vegetarian by omitting the meat and adding extra beans or vegetables.
  • Add chopped jalapeños or hot salsa for a spicier kick.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
