Korean Bulgogi BBQ Steak Bowls

Ingredients
  

For the Marinade and Beef

  • 1 lb beef sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger minced

For the Rice Base

  • 2 cups rice white or brown, cooked according to package instructions

For the Vegetables and Garnish

  • 1 cup vegetables bell peppers, carrots, green onions, or your choice, sliced
  • 1 tsp oil for sautéing vegetables
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 tbsp green onions sliced, for garnish
  • to taste gochujang optional, for sweet and spicy drizzle

Instructions
 

Marinate the Beef

  • Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger.
  • Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.

Cook the Rice

  • Prepare rice according to package instructions using a rice cooker or pot.

Sauté the Vegetables

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil and sauté your choice of vegetables until tender-crisp, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef

  • In the same skillet, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Sear for 2-3 minutes before flipping. Cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through and caramelized.

Assemble the Bowls

  • Place a scoop of rice in a bowl. Top with sautéed vegetables and cooked bulgogi beef.
  • Drizzle with gochujang if desired, and finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish.

Notes

  • Slice the beef as thinly as possible for quick cooking and tender bites.
  • Marinate the beef longer, up to 4 hours, to enhance flavor.
  • Store components separately in airtight containers to keep fresh and reheat easily.
