Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Skillet or Grill
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Cutting Board
  • Serving platter

Ingredients

  • 1 pear skinned and minced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 pounds flank steak thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 12 6-inch flour tortillas
  • 1 purple cabbage shredded
  • 3 tablespoons cilantro chopped
  • lime wedges
  • sriracha mayo
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the minced pear, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, lime juice, brown sugar, onion powder, and black pepper. Whisk until well incorporated.

Marinate the Flank Steak

  • Place the thinly sliced flank steak in a large resealable bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least one hour, or up to overnight.

Cook the Steak

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or on a grill over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing any excess liquid to drip off. Cook the steak in batches to avoid overcrowding, about 2-3 minutes per side or until nicely charred and cooked to your desired doneness. Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.

Warm the Tortillas

  • While the steak is resting, warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or until they are pliable and warm.

Assemble the Tacos

  • Place a generous amount of the cooked steak on each tortilla. Top with shredded purple cabbage, chopped cilantro, and a drizzle of sriracha mayo. Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for added crunch and flavor.

Serve

  • Serve your Korean tacos with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of citrus flavor. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Marinate the steak overnight for maximum flavor infusion.
  • Substitute flank steak with chicken, tofu, or shrimp for variety.
  • Freeze marinated or cooked steak in airtight containers for meal prep.
  • Warm tortillas just before serving for best texture.
  • Adjust sriracha amount to control the spice level.
