Ingredients
  

  • 12 cups Rice Krispies Cereal the base of the treat
  • 4 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 105-140 grams Candy Melts such as Wilton melts, for coating
  • 48 Candy Eyes for decorating
  • 48 Lollipop Sticks optional, for easy handling
  • Parchment Paper for lining baking sheet

Instructions
 

Prepare Your Workspace

  • Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will be your cooling area once the treats are made. Make sure your workspace is clean and organized.

Melt the Marshmallows

  • In a large mixing bowl, add 4 cups of mini marshmallows and 3 tablespoons of butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.

Mix in the Rice Krispies

  • Once the marshmallows are melted, add the Rice Krispies cereal to the bowl. Stir gently with a spatula until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Shape the Treats

  • While the mixture is still warm, use your hands (greased with a little butter to prevent sticking) to form the Rice Krispie mixture into large balls, approximately the size of a golf ball. Place them on your prepared parchment paper.

Melt the Candy Coating

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy melts according to the package instructions, stirring until smooth. You can use different colors if you prefer a variety of monsters.

Coat and Decorate the Treats

  • Dip each Rice Krispie ball into the melted candy, allowing the excess to drip off. Place them back on the parchment paper.
  • Before the candy coating sets, place two candy eyes on each monster treat, pressing gently so they adhere.
  • If using lollipop sticks, insert them into the bottom of each treat before the candy coating hardens completely. This will give you a fun and easy way to enjoy your Monster Rice Krispie Treats.

Set the Treats

  • Let the treats sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until the candy coating is firm. Once set, they are ready to be enjoyed!

Notes

  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days to keep them fresh.
  • Use different colored candy melts and decorations to match holidays or themes.
  • If the candy coating is too thick, add a small amount of vegetable oil to thin it out.
