Parmesan Basil Orzo
A creamy, savory orzo tossed with Parmesan and fresh basil for an easy, comforting side dish.

- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 1/2 cups orzo
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Heat the large skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
Add the orzo and sauté, stirring frequently, until the orzo is golden brown, about 3–5 minutes.
Slowly pour in the chicken broth while stirring, then bring the mixture to a boil.
Cover the skillet, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the orzo is tender and most of the broth is absorbed.
Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan and chopped basil until combined.
Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.
- Can substitute 2 tsp dried basil for fresh.
