Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Baking Sheet
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 3-4 bone-in chicken thighs about 2-2.5 lbs., skin removed if desired
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Start by removing the skin from your chicken thighs if you prefer skinless. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with paper towels to ensure they get crispy in the air fryer.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, sea salt, cracked pepper, and Italian seasoning. This flavorful mixture will help the Parmesan and breadcrumbs stick to the chicken.
  • Add the chicken thighs to the bowl with the marinade. Use your hands to coat each thigh thoroughly, ensuring every crevice is filled with flavor.
  • In another bowl, combine the breadcrumbs or panko with the grated Parmesan. Stir well to combine.
  • Take each marinated chicken thigh and press it into the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring a generous coating on all sides.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the coated chicken thighs in the basket, leaving space between them for air circulation. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • Remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispy chicken.
  • Pat the chicken dry before coating to help the breadcrumb mixture stick better.
  • Let the chicken rest after cooking to keep it juicy and tender.
  • Substitute gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
