- 1 pound extra firm tofu
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free option
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Remove tofu from packaging and drain water. Wrap in paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Place a heavy object on top and press out excess moisture for 15-20 minutes.
Unwrap tofu and cut into bite-sized, uniform cubes for even cooking.
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce and sesame oil. Add tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to an hour for deeper flavor.
Sprinkle cornstarch over marinated tofu and gently toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Place tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Remove tofu from air fryer and let cool slightly. Serve over rice, in salads, or as a snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
