Cuisine American
- 1 cup butter at room temperature
- 3 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
- 16 ounces powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large mixing bowl, combine the room temperature butter and cream cheese. Using your hand mixer or stand mixer, beat them together on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed. Once all the sugar is added, increase the speed to medium and beat until fully incorporated.
Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture on medium-high speed for an additional 2-5 minutes until the frosting is light, fluffy, and at your desired consistency. Adjust thickness by adding more milk or powdered sugar if needed.
Taste your frosting and adjust sweetness or vanilla as desired.
Use the frosting immediately to spread or pipe on your desserts, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Ensure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for smooth mixing.
- Sift powdered sugar to avoid lumps in your frosting.
- If frosting is too sweet, add a pinch of salt or extra cream cheese to balance flavors.
