  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Storage container

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons smooth tahini the creamy base for your dressing
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil adds a nutty flavor
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar provides acidity and brightness
  • 1 tablespoon tamari a gluten-free soy sauce alternative
  • 1 heaping teaspoon grated fresh ginger for a zesty kick
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey to balance the flavors with sweetness
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons water to adjust the consistency

Instructions

The Method for Sesame Ginger Dressing

  • Start by measuring out all of your ingredients. This will make the mixing process smooth and quick.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, add the 3 tablespoons of smooth tahini, 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame oil, and 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar.
  • Next, stir in 1 tablespoon of tamari, 1 heaping teaspoon of grated fresh ginger, and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey.
  • Using a whisk or fork, mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined and smooth. The tahini should become creamy and the dressing should start to thicken.
  • Depending on your preference for thickness, gradually add 1 to 3 tablespoons of water, stirring constantly until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thick, continue adding water a tablespoon at a time.
  • Give your dressing a taste and adjust the flavors as necessary. You may want to add a bit more honey for sweetness or more ginger for a zingier taste.

Notes

  • Store dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
  • Whisk in a little water before using if the dressing thickens after storage.
  • Substitute almond butter for tahini for a different nutty flavor.
  • Use maple syrup instead of honey to make this dressing fully vegan.
  • Add water gradually to adjust the consistency to your liking.
