Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp dried minced onion flakes
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 (8-oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cooked white or brown rice
  • Cheese for topping (your choice)

Instructions
 

  • In your large skillet or pot, over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Using a wooden spoon, break it apart as it cooks. Sauté until it is nicely browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the sausage is browned, add the minced garlic and dried minced onion flakes to the skillet. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant, stirring to combine the flavors.
  • Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, stirring to coat the sausage mixture evenly. This step enhances the aroma and flavor, setting the stage for the sauce.
  • Pour in the water and the two cans of tomato sauce. Stir everything together, ensuring that the sausage is well-distributed in the sauce.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes, letting the flavors meld together beautifully.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, mixing thoroughly to combine with the sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until everything is heated through.
  • Remove from heat and serve hot. Sprinkle cheese on top of each serving, allowing it to melt slightly before enjoying.
