Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board
  • baking dish or rimmed baking sheet
  • Cooking spray
  • Meat Thermometer

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup dry whole-wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons reduced-sodium Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • cooking spray (for the baking dish)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, whole-wheat bread crumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and sea salt; mix until evenly combined.
  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the crumbs to hydrate.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat a baking dish or rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty; place the patties in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between them.
  • Bake the patties for about 30 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 165°F (74°C) and juices run clear.
  • Remove from the oven and let the patties rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the mixture helps the patties hold together while baking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness.
  • Adjust hot sauce to taste for milder or spicier burgers.
