Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Waffle iron
  • Spatula or silicone brush
  • Cooling rack

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ¼ cups warm milk
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together the 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 2 tablespoons of white sugar.

Step 2: Whisk Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, beat the 2 eggs thoroughly. Add the 1 ¼ cups of warm milk, ½ cup of melted butter, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Whisk these together until smooth and well combined.

Step 3: Bring It All Together

  • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture. Gently fold the ingredients together with a spatula or whisk just until combined; some lumps are fine.

Step 4: Preheat the Waffle Iron

  • Turn on your waffle iron and allow it to heat fully. If not non-stick, lightly brush with melted butter or oil to prevent sticking.

Step 5: Cook Your Waffles

  • Pour enough batter onto the center of the waffle iron to cover the surface but not overflow. Close the lid and cook about 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  • Carefully remove waffles using a fork or tongs and transfer to a cooling rack to maintain crispness. Serve warm with favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep waffles tender and light.
  • Warm the milk before adding to activate the baking powder for fluffier waffles.
  • Leftover waffles store well refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
