- 1/4 cup sunflower oil or any neutral oil
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes optional
In a large pot, pour in the sunflower oil and place it over medium heat. Allow the oil to heat up for a couple of minutes until it shimmers.
Once the oil is hot, add the popcorn kernels to the pot. Cover with the lid but leave it slightly ajar to allow steam to escape.
Shake the pot gently back and forth on the burner to ensure the kernels heat evenly. Keep shaking until the popping slows down to about 2-3 seconds between pops.
When the popping has slowed down, take the pot off the heat and let it sit for a minute to allow any remaining kernels to pop.
In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and nutritional yeast flakes. Drizzle this mixture over the popped corn, and sprinkle with sea salt. Toss thoroughly to ensure even coating.
Transfer the popcorn to a large serving bowl and enjoy your delicious, cheesy snack!
